General Admission Requirements

Prospective applicants must satisfy both general university matriculation requirements and departmental standards:

• O’Level Requirements: Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects—including English Language and Mathematics—obtained in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE.

• NYSC Certificate: A valid NYSC Discharge Certificate, Exemption Certificate, or Letter of Exclusion is mandatory for all Nigerian applicants.

• Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): A Bachelor’s degree with at least a Third Class division from a recognized university, or a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in a relevant discipline.

• Academic Masters (M.Sc., M.A., M.Ed., LL.M.): A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of Second Class Lower (2:2) from YSU or any recognized university. Alternatively, candidates with a Third Class degree or HND must have completed a recognized Postgraduate Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 5.0 scale.

• Professional Masters: A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Lower division or a recognized PGD qualification. Relevant post-qualification work experience may be considered.

• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): An M.Sc., M.A., or equivalent Master’s degree in the relevant field from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative weighted average or CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.0 scale (or at least 60% average).
