FUPRE Post-UTME 2026/2027 Academic Session
FUPRE Post-UTME 2026/2027: I have over a decade of experience as an educational consultant, having successfully placed a lot of students into this specialized world of petroleum studies. I can confidently say that FUPRE stands out as a unique institution from all the rest in the country. Of course, this is a specialized university with a highly specialized admissions system for its science and engineering orientation. Therefore, to place an offer for the 2026/2027 academic session, you need to explore the post-UTME with maximum precision.
What is FUPRE Post-UTME?
The screening exercise, known as Post-UTME (Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination), allows FUPRE to evaluate its candidates’ level of preparedness for tertiary education in general. Why is this screening important? For prospective students, your JAMB score tells you only half the story here! The result from this screening weighs a great deal in making your admission decision in FUPRE, especially if you are applying to one or more competitive engineering programs in FUPRE and your departmental choices are not guaranteed admission in your department of first choice, but a different department in a different college in FUPRE.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the 2026/2027 screening, the following criteria must be met:
- Choice of Institution: You must have selected FUPRE as your First Choice.
- UTME Score: Though officially, results for the 2026 cutoff will be announced later, the minimum for FUPRE was 170 in the past. Though for Petroleum/ME, 200+ is advisable as a safer target.
- O-Level Subjects: Five credit passes at not more than two sittings, which should include English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and either of the two other Science subjects at credit level, with zonal results accepted at par with national results of WAEC, NEC
- Direct Entry (DE) candidates must have a National Diploma in a relevant field with Upper Credit or A-Level/IJMB/JUPEB equivalence.
Screening Format: The CBT Exam
FUPRE usually conducts a Computer-Based Test (CBT) on campus in Effurun, Delta State, Niger Delta Region.
- Subject Combination – The same subjects that the JAMB offered, just the same (e.g., English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, etc., for the course of Engineering).
- Direct Entry: DE applicants are mostly tested through an interview or a screening procedure instead of a CBT examination, though in some cases, this may depend on departmental needs.

Required Documents for Registration
Have these items ready (digital copies for upload and originals for the exam day):
- JAMB Original Result Slip
- O-Level Result(s) – WAEC, NECO,
- A photo of your face, preferably against a red background, although a white background appears acceptable.
- Local Government Area (LGA) Identification Letter.
- Birth Certificate or Age Declaration.
Step-by-Step Registration Guide
Registration is conducted via the FUPRE Post-UTME Portal.
- Generate Invoice: Generate an invoice from the portal and then pay the ₦2,000 screening fee using Remita.

- Upload: Attach passport & O-Level results.
- Submit & Print: Verify your information and print your Screening/Registration Slip. The slip shall bear your date and time of examination.
Calculation of Aggregate Score
FUPRE usually uses a weighted system to calculate your “Admission Score.” A model most used is the 50:50 ratio:
Example: If you scored 240 in JAMB and 60 in Post-UTME:
- JAMB: 240 / 8 = 30
- UTME: 60/2 = 30
- Summative Aggregate = 60
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Improper O-Level Combination: Engineering courses require Physics and Chemistry to form part of the combinations at FUPRE. Any other sciences will amount to disqualification.
- Not clear passport uploads: Your photo on that slip serves the invigilators for identification. If it’s not clear, you might be barred from the hall.
- Failure to upload to JAMB CAPS: You are required to upload your O’Level results on JAMB’s official portal called CAPS. Your admission letter from FUPRE cannot be issued if JAMB fails to verify your results.
Expert Admission Tips
- Focus on Speed: The FUPRE CBT may be a quick exam. Familiarize yourself with FUPRE-specific past exam questions to prepare you for speed in exams.
- Verify Your Venue: The college campus is quite large. Ensure that if the venue indicates ICT Centre or College of Engineering, you are aware of the exact location a day before the examination date.
- Stay Updated: Admission lists are made public in batches.8 If your name appears in the first list, don’t panic. Keep checking your admission status on JAMB caps.
