Official List of Courses Offered in Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB): If you have chosen the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), you are targeting one of the three specialized agricultural universities in Nigeria.

FUNAAB is often misunderstood. Because it is a “University of Agriculture,” many students assume it only offers farming courses. Others assume that because it is a “Federal University,” it must offer every course, like Medicine and Law. Both assumptions are wrong.

  • Management Courses are BACK: After years of being delisted by the NUC, FUNAAB has received full approval to reintroduce “Management Sciences” under the College of Entrepreneurial and Development Studies (COLENDS). Yes, you can now study Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, and Business Enterprise at FUNAAB.

  • No “Human” Medicine: FUNAAB offers Veterinary Medicine (for animals), but it does NOT offer Medicine & Surgery (MBBS) for humans.

  • No Law: The university does not have a Faculty of Law.

To secure admission into FUNAAB, you need to understand its specific requirements. It is not just about scoring 200 in JAMB.

1. The “Cut-Off” Mark Reality

  • General Cut-Off: FUNAAB usually sets a general cut-off of 160.

  • The “Tier” System:

    • Tier 1 (Competitive): For Computer Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Engineering, you need 200 – 230+.

    • Tier 2 (Medium): For Accounting, Economics, and Food Science, aim for 180 – 200.

    • Tier 3 (Basic): For Agriculture and Forestry courses, 160+ is usually sufficient.

2. O-Level Requirements

  • The “Science” Rule: FUNAAB is a specialized university. For ALL courses (including Accounting and Economics), you generally need a Credit in Mathematics and English.

  • Physics & Chemistry: Almost every course requires Credit in Chemistry and Physics.

    • Exception: Some Agricultural courses may accept a Pass (D7/E8) in Physics if you have a Distinction in Agricultural Science, but do not risk it—aim for Credit in all science subjects.

3. Direct Entry (DE)

  • FUNAAB accepts JUPEB and IJMB.

  • ND/HND: They accept Upper Credit. Lower Credit is rarely considered for competitive departments.
