Official List of Courses Offered in Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) for 2026/2027
Official List of Courses Offered in Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK): Are you planning to study in the “Land of Equity”? If you have chosen Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) for the 2026/2027 academic session, you are aiming for one of the most stable and fast-rising universities in North-West Nigeria.
Established in 2013, FUBK has grown rapidly. However, many students still rely on outdated information. For example, some students assume FUBK offers Engineering because it is a “Federal University,” while others doubt if the Medical School is accredited.
ADMISSION UPDATE 2026/2027: Before you proceed, here is the current reality of FUBK’s academic landscape:
-
Medical School is Fully Accredited: You can confidently study Medicine & Surgery and Nursing Science here. The Nursing programme has received full accreditation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
-
No Engineering Faculty Yet: Despite rumors, FUBK does NOT yet have a Faculty of Engineering. Do not apply for “Civil” or “Mechanical Engineering”, hoping to be admitted.
-
Environmental Sciences are Active: The university has a robust Faculty of Environmental Sciences offering Architecture, Building Technology, and Quantity Surveying.

Important Admission Secrets for 2026/2027
To secure admission into FUBK, you need to be strategic. Here are three key things to note:
1. JAMB Cut-Off Marks (The “Tier” System) FUBK does not use a single cut-off mark for everyone.
-
Tier 1 (220 – 240+): Medicine & Surgery. If you score 180, do not list Medicine as your first choice; you will likely not get it.
-
Tier 2 (190 – 210+): Nursing Science, Architecture, Computer Science.
-
Tier 3 (150 – 170): Sciences, Arts, Education, and Agriculture.
2. Indigene vs. Non-Indigene Cut-Off FUBK is a Federal University, but like many universities in the North, there may be slight variations in cut-off marks favoring candidates from the catchment area (Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara). However, for Medicine and Nursing, the Merit list is strictly for high scorers regardless of state.
3. The “Physics with Electronics” Trap. Many engineering aspirants apply to FUBK looking for “Electrical Engineering.” Since FUBK does not offer Engineering, the closest alternative is Physics with Electronics. Be sure you are comfortable with a Science degree (B.Sc.) rather than an Engineering degree (B.Eng) before applying.
