Important Admission Secrets for 2026/2027
To secure admission into DSUST (formerly Ozoro Poly), you need to understand the “University” strategy:
1. The Cut-Off Mark Strategy
-
Official Mark: As a university, the cut-off mark is generally 150 – 160 in JAMB. This is higher than the old polytechnic cut-off of 120.
-
First Choice: You MUST change your institution to Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, on the JAMB portal. If you leave it as “Delta State Polytechnic,” you will not be admitted.
2. Direct Entry (For Poly Graduates)
-
The Route: If you have an ND from Ozoro (when it was a poly) or any other school, apply for Direct Entry.
-
Requirements: You generally need an Upper Credit (or a strong Lower Credit) in your National Diploma to gain admission into the 200 Level.
3. Weekend Degree (The “Part-Time” Alternative)
-
No JAMB? If you are a working professional or missed JAMB, inquire about the Weekend Degree Programme. It allows you to earn the same B.Sc. certificate by attending classes on Fridays and Saturdays.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is Ozoro still a Polytechnic? No. It is 100% a University now. The Polytechnic program has been phased out.
Can I still apply for HND? No. You cannot apply for an HND. You should apply for Direct Entry into the University to get a B.Sc., which is generally considered higher than an HND in the Nigerian labor market.
What is the School Fees? As a state university, fees are higher than the old polytechnic rates but still affordable compared to private universities.
-
Indigenes: Typically pay lower fees.
-
Non-Indigenes: Pay slightly higher.
-
Budget roughly ₦180,000 – ₦250,000 per session, depending on the course (Science/Engineering pays more).
