Important Things to Note for 2026/2027 Admission
1. The “Cut-Off” Mark Reality. While the official JAMB cut-off for BUK is often set around 160 or 180, this is just the minimum to buy the Post-UTME form.
-
For Medicine/Nursing/Pharmacy: You are advised to score 230+ to stand a realistic chance.
-
For Engineering/Law: Aim for 200+.
2. Catchment Area BUK is a Federal University, but it gives preference to candidates from its catchment area (mostly North-West states). If you are from outside this zone, you are admitted on “Merit,” meaning your score needs to be higher than the average applicant.
3. Direct Entry (DE) BUK accepts IJMB, NCE, and ND results for Direct Entry into 200 Level. However, for courses like Medicine and Nursing, admission via DE is extremely competitive and slots are few.
4. Wrong Subject Combination = No Admission. This is the biggest trap. You cannot study Mass Communication without Literature in English. You cannot study Computer Science without Physics. Always verify your subject combo using the JAMB brochure before applying.
