Official List of Courses Offered in Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU): Are you planning to study at the “Orange University”? If you have chosen Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) for the 2026/2027 academic session, you are targeting one of the most rapidly developing state universities in the South-South.

1. Faculty of Law is LIVE: The biggest news for 2026 is that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has fully approved the Faculty of Law at AKSU. You can now study Law here, but be warned: the cut-off mark for the pioneer set was pegged at a massive 280.

2. No MBBS Yet: Despite rumors, AKSU does NOT yet offer Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). Do not be scammed into buying a form for Medicine.

3. New Medical Courses: While there is no Medicine, AKSU has launched several high-demand health courses, including Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, and Public Health.

4. Mass Comm Unbundled: The single “Mass Communication” degree is being transitioned into a full Faculty of Communication and Media Studies with specialized departments.

To secure admission into AKSU, you need to understand their “Two Campus” system and Cut-Off policies:

1. The “140 vs. 280” Rule

• General Cut-Off: AKSU is known for being student-friendly. The general university cut-off is usually 140 or 150.

• The Law Exception: Do not apply for Law with 160. The specific cut-off for Law is 280. It is reserved for high scorers.

• Nursing/Med Lab: Aim for 200+ to be safe on the Merit list.

2. Know Your Campus

• Main Campus (Ikot Akpaden): Houses Engineering, Science, Law, and Health Sciences.

• Obio Akpa Campus (Oruk Anam): Houses Arts, Management, Social Sciences, and Agriculture.

• Why this matters: If you apply for Accounting, you will be living in Oruk Anam, not the main campus. Know this before you rent a lodge!
