Official Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) Admission Guide 2026/2027
Official LASUSTECH (formerly LASPOTECH) Cut-Off Marks for 2026/2027: This article provides you with everything you need to know about the institution formerly known as Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) for the 2026/2027 academic session.
If you are searching for “Lagos State Polytechnic” or “LASPOTECH” admission, you need to pause and read this first. The institution has undergone a major transformation that affects your admission, your degree, and your cut-off mark.
First: Is it LASPOTECH or LASUSTECH?
The institution is no longer a Polytechnic.
-
Old Name: Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH).
-
Current Name: Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).
-
Status: It is now a full-fledged University.
-
What this means for you: The school now awards Bachelor’s Degrees (B.Sc, B.Eng, B.Tech) instead of National Diplomas (ND) and Higher National Diplomas (HND).
Consequently, the “Polytechnic” cut-off marks (usually 100-120) no longer apply. You are now applying to a university, and the requirements are higher.
LASUSTECH JAMB Cut Off Mark 2026/2027
Since the upgrade to a university, the management has officially set a new standard. The LASUSTECH JAMB cut-off mark for the 2026/2027 academic session is 195.
Important Reality Check:
-
The 195 Benchmark: You generally need a score of 195 and above in your 2026 UTME to be eligible for the online screening. Scores below this are typically not considered for the Degree programme.
-
Competitive Departments: While 195 is the minimum to buy the form, “Hot Cake” courses require much higher scores to be safe on the Merit List.
-
Computer Science: Aim for 220+
-
Accounting: Aim for 210+
-
Mass Communication: Aim for 220+
-
Microbiology / SLT (Degree): Aim for 210+
-
-
First Choice Policy: You MUST choose Lagos State University of Science and Technology (not Lagos State Polytechnic) as your First Choice on JAMB CAPS. If it is your Second Choice, admission is impossible until you do a Change of Institution.
Admission Screening: How It Works
LASUSTECH does not write a physical Post-UTME exam (like a second JAMB). Instead, they use an Online Screening / Aggregate Point System.
-
O’Level Grading: Your WAEC/NECO results matter immensely. The school calculates points based on your grades (A1 gives you more points than B2 or C6).
-
The Formula: Your JAMB score + Your O’Level Aggregate Score = Your Final Screening Score.
-
The Implication: Even if you score 250 in JAMB, having many “C” grades in your O’Level can lower your aggregate and cost you admission. Conversely, a student with 200 in JAMB but straight “A”s in WAEC stands a very strong chance.

LASUSTECH School Fees
As a state-owned university, LASUSTECH maintains a fee structure that differentiates between “Indigenes” and “Non-Indigenes.”
Estimated Fee Schedule for Freshers (100 Level):
-
Indigenes (Lagos State Origin):
-
You enjoy a significant subsidy (often paying roughly 30-40% less than non-indigenes).
-
Condition: You must pass the State of Origin Verification Exercise (SOVE). This is a strict interview process where you prove your Lagos roots (using documents from your LGA and Oba).
-
-
Non-Indigenes:
-
You pay the standard state university tuition, which typically ranges between ₦100,000 and ₦150,000 per session (subject to slight annual reviews).
-
-
Acceptance Fee: Approximately ₦25,000 – ₦30,000 (Non-refundable).
Does LASUSTECH Still Offer ND/HND?
This is tricky. While the University (LASUSTECH) focuses on Degrees, the institution may still run legacy or specific Diploma programmes during this transition phase, often under a Part-Time or School of Part-Time Studies arrangement.
-
Advice: If your JAMB score is below 195 and you are desperate for admission, visit the Ikorodu campus to enquire specifically about Part-Time ND programmes. However, for full-time freshers, the goal is the Degree.
Important Admission Tips
-
Campus Awareness: The main university campus is in Ikorodu. The Isolo campus, which famously hosted many Poly departments, is still part of the structure but Ikorodu is the administrative headquarters.
-
O’Level Upload: You cannot be admitted if you do not upload your O’Level result to JAMB CAPS. This is the #1 reason for disqualification.
-
Direct Entry: If you already have an ND from LASPOTECH (or another polytechnic), you can apply for Direct Entry into 200 Level at LASUSTECH. You do not need to write JAMB again, but you must buy the JAMB DE form.
