National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) School Fees 2026/2027
National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) School Fees 2026/2027: Are you thinking about studying at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in the 2026/2027 academic session? Unlike traditional universities in Nigeria, NOUN has a unique “Pay-As-You-Go” fee structure. This means that you don’t pay a fixed tuition fee; instead, your total fees are based on the number of courses and exams you register for each semester.
1. Undergraduate School Fees (2026/2027 Projection)
Undergraduate students (100 Level – 400/500 Level) pay fees divided into two categories: Compulsory Semester Fees (paid once each semester) and Variable Fees (paid per course).
A. Compulsory Semester Fees (Flat Rate)
To activate your portal for course registration, you need to pay this fee.
| Student Category | Estimated Fee (Per Semester) | Breakdown of Charges |
| New Students (Freshers) | ₦58,000 – ₦60,000 | Includes Registration, Orientation, Matriculation, ID Card, Library, & ICT charges. |

B. Variable Course & Exam Fees
These fees are based on the number of credit units for each course you register for.

| Course Registration (2 Units) | ₦2,000 |
| Course Registration (3 Units) | ₦2,500 |

-
Compulsory Semester Fee: ~₦90,000 – ₦150,000 (depending on the stage/semester).
-
Course/Exam Fees: Significantly higher than Master’s level.
4. How to Calculate Your Total Fee (Sample)
As there is no fixed “Tuition Fee,” here is how to estimate what you will pay for a single semester: an undergraduate fresher registering for 8 courses, totalling 20 credit units.
-
Compulsory Fee: = ₦58,000
-
Course Registration:
-
Suppose 4 courses are 3-units (4 x ₦2,500) = ₦10,000
-
Suppose 4 courses are 2-units (4 x ₦2,000) = ₦8,000
-
-
Exam Registration:
-
8 courses x ₦1,500 = ₦12,000
-
-
TOTAL ESTIMATE: ₦58,000 + ₦18,000 + ₦12,000 = ₦88,000
-
Tip: Most undergraduates pay between ₦70,000 and ₦100,000 during their first semester. Returning students generally pay between ₦45,000 and ₦60,000 each semester.
