How ATBU Calculates Aggregate Score
ATBU typically employs a screening method that involves your JAMB score and your O’Level grades (or a physical screening score).
To be safe, you should aim to calculate your chances using this formula (subject to change by management):
-
JAMB Score: Takes the majority percentage (often 50% or 100%, depending on the screening mode).
-
O-Level Grades: Points are sometimes awarded based on the number of sittings (1 sitting earns higher points than 2 sittings) and the grades in 5 relevant subjects.
Admissions Secret: If you are applying for Medicine or Nursing and scored below 240 in JAMB, it is highly advisable to consider a change of course to a related but less competitive field, such as Anatomy or Animal Production, to secure admission. Then, try to transfer later if permitted.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Does ATBU accept Second Choice candidates? Historically, No. ATBU is a federal university and typically requires you to choose it as your first-choice institution in JAMB to be eligible for Post-UTME. If you chose them as your second choice, you must apply for a change of institution immediately.
What is the cut-off mark for Medicine at ATBU? The general cut-off is 160, but realistically, you need a JAMB score of 290 and above to have a solid chance on merit.
Does ATBU write Post-UTME exams? In recent years, ATBU has adopted an Online Screening method where you are graded based on your credentials (JAMB & O’Levels) rather than writing a physical examination. However, always stay up to date on the portal.
I scored 159. Can I apply? Strictly speaking, no. The system usually locks out anyone with a score below 160. Your best option is to change institutions to a polytechnic or a college of education that accepts 100-140.
