Important Admission Secrets for 2026/2027

To secure admission into OOU, you need to navigate their specific requirements:

1. The “Ogun” Catchment Policy

  • OOU is owned by the Ogun State Government.

  • Ogun Indigenes: You receive a slight advantage in the cut-off mark.

  • Non-Indigenes: You are very welcome. In fact, a huge population of OOU students comes from Lagos and Oyo states. The “discrimination” is minimal compared to some Northern universities, provided you meet the merit cut-off.

2. The Cut-Off Mark Reality

  • General Cut-Off: OOU typically sets a minimum of 160.

  • Real Targets:

    • Medicine: 260+.

    • Nursing/Law: 230 – 240+.

    • Computer Science/Med Lab: 200+.

    • New Courses (Forensic/Taxation): 180+ (Easier to get into because they are new).

3. Direct Entry (DE)

  • OOU accepts JUPEB, A-Levels, and National Diploma (ND).

  • Caution: If you apply for Engineering, remember you will be in Ibogun, which is closer to Ifo/Ota than it is to Ago-Iwoye. Plan your life accordingly!
