Important Admission Secrets for 2026/2027

To secure admission into RSU, you need to understand the “Rivers” factor:

1. The “Indigene” Preference

  • RSU is owned by the Rivers State Government.

  • Rivers Indigenes: You get massive preference.

  • Non-Indigenes: You are welcome, but admission is tighter. You must score significantly higher to compete on the Merit list.

2. The Cut-Off Mark Reality

  • General Cut-Off: RSU typically sets a university minimum of 150 or 160.

  • Real Targets:

    • Medicine (MBBS): 260+.

    • Law: 240+.

    • Nursing/Marine Engineering: 220 – 230+.

    • Petrochemical Engineering: 200+.

3. The Post-UTME Screening

  • RSU does not joke with Post-UTME. It is usually an aptitude test. Your admission is heavily dependent on this score. Do not rely on the JAMB score alone.
