Official List of Courses Offered in Imo State University (IMSU) for 2026/2027
Official List of Courses Offered in Imo State University (IMSU): Are you planning to become an “Imo Star”? If you have chosen Imo State University (IMSU) for the 2026/2027 academic session, you are targeting a university located in the heart of Owerri, the entertainment capital of the East.
IMSU is arguably the most competitive state university in the South-East. It is famous for its prestigious Optometry program, a vibrant Law Faculty, and a highly political student environment.
NOTE: Before you browse the list, you must navigate three common “Traps” that confuse IMSU aspirants:
-
The “Pharmacy” Trap: Many students apply to IMSU looking for Pharmacy. IMSU does NOT offer Pharmacy (B.Pharm). They offer Pharmacology, which is a medical science course, not a professional license to be a pharmacist. Do not confuse the two!
-
The “Two-Campus” Reality: While the main campus is at Lake Nwaebere (Owerri), medical students (Medicine & Surgery) eventually move to the Teaching Hospital in Orlu for their clinical training.
-
Optometry is King: IMSU is one of the few universities in Nigeria where Optometry is a “Flagship” course, often competing with Medicine in terms of prestige and cut-off marks.
