Official List of Courses Offered in University of Ibadan (UI) for 2026/2027
Official List of Courses Offered in the University of Ibadan (UI): Having chosen the University of Ibadan (UI), you are targeting the premier university in Nigeria. UI is not just the oldest degree-awarding institution in the country; it is arguably the most competitive.
UI is famous for its “strict” admission policy. They do not admit students just to fill quotas; you must meet their high standards.
NOTE: Before you browse the list, you must update your knowledge about three critical changes at UI:
-
The “Mass Comm” Trap: UI does NOT offer a course called “Mass Communication.” If you search for it in JAMB, you won’t find it. Instead, UI offers Communication and Language Arts (CLA). This course covers journalism, broadcasting, and public speaking, but it is titled differently.
-
New Tech Faculties: UI has established a Faculty of Computing. You can now study Software Engineering, Data Science, and Cyber Security at the undergraduate level.
-
No “International Relations”: Unlike some other schools, UI does not offer “International Relations” as a standalone undergraduate degree. It is usually studied at the Master’s level or covered under History or Political Science.

Important Admission Secrets for 2026/2027
To secure admission into UI, you need to understand their “Aggregate” system and strict rules:
1. The “One Sitting” Rule
-
College of Medicine & Pharmacy: UI strictly requires 5 Credits in ONE Sitting for Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, and Pharmacy. If you combine WAEC and NECO, you are automatically disqualified for these courses.
-
Other Faculties: Two sittings are generally accepted.
2. The 50% / 50% Calculation UI does not conduct a written Post-UTME exam anymore (in most recent sessions). Instead, they use a Point-Based System:
-
JAMB Score: Divided by 8 (50%).
-
O’Level Results: Graded (A1=6 points, B2=5 points, etc.) to make up the other 50%.
-
Tip: If you have Cs in your WAEC, your chances of getting Medicine at UI are very slim, even if you score 300 in JAMB. You need A1s.
3. Age Limit
-
You MUST be 16 years old by the time of admission. UI is very strict with this age limit.
