ABU Post UTME/DE Form 2026/2027 | Screening Date, Eligibility & How to Apply
Ahmadu Bello University Post UTME/DE Form 2026/2027: I am an education consultant, and I have helped thousands of students to go through the gates of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and I know that the period leading to the Post-UTME is the most important aspect of your entire process. Ahmadu Bello University is one of the most competitive institutions in Nigeria, and “getting it right” is as important as how you perform in the exams. This guide provides a detailed roadmap for the 2026/2027 academic session.
What is ABU Post-UTME?
The post-UTME is a screening exercise that is carried out by ABU Zaria to filter out the thousands of applicants who meet the JAMB cut-off mark. Why is it important? You cannot be offered admission into ABU by your JAMB score alone. This is where your “Aggregate Score” is determined, and this is the final mark that will eventually be used to place you on the Merit, Catchment, or ELDS (Educationally Less Developed States) admission lists.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the screening in 2026/2027, you are expected to fulfill the following requirements:
- Institution of Choice: ABU Zaria MUST be your FIRST CHOICE. If not, you have to apply for a “Change of Institution” from the JAMB website before the closing of the screening registration exercise.
- JAMB Score: The general cutoff mark in JAMB has always been 180. Nonetheless, the likes of Medical Sciences, Law, Nursing, and Engineering demand scores of 200 to 250+ in order to be completely safe.
- O-Level Requirements: You must have at least five (5) credit passes combined and not more than two (2) sittings, and subjects that are relevant include English and Mathematics.
- Direct Entry (DE): DE students must have a minimum of Merit in Diploma, or 7-9 points in IJMB/A Levels, depending on the faculty.

Screening Format
ABU Zaria usually conducts a Computer-Based Test (CBT) on UTME candidates.

- DE Candidates: For DE candidates, based on previous years, these are only expected to register online and submit their results for physical screening/verification; CBT is not supposed to be written.

Step-by-Step Registration Guide
The registration is conducted on the ABU e-Forms portal.
- Login: You just need to enter your JAMB Registration Number and State of Origin as your login details.
- Create a Remita Retrieval Reference: Create an RRR for the screening fee (₦2,000).
- Payment: Payment can be made through ATM cards as well as at any commercial bank in the country.
- Bio-data Update: Fill out your personal details and upload your passport.
- Result Upload: Input your result carefully, starting with your O-Level exams
- Printing of Scheduling Slip: As soon as you have completed the submission, you should print your Registration/Screening Slips. This is because your particular time of examination is included, which would either be at the ‘Iya Abubakar Institute or the Distance Learning Centre.’
Calculation of Aggregate Score
The ABU Zaria normally takes a score of 50:50 or 60:40 ratio between your JAMB score and your Post-UTME score.
The most common is the formula: Note: This formula assumes that the Post-UTME is marked out of 100. If it is marked out of 400, it is simply the average of the two scores.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Incorrect Combination of Subjects: If there’s a discrepancy in the combination of subjects offered in the JAMB exam and the faculty requirements of ABU, the candidate will be disqualified based on the exam results, no matter the score obtained
- O-Level Errors in Grades: Entering an ‘A’ instead of your ‘C’ would be considered fraud. Thus, you would be disqualified by default in the physical screening.
- Late Registration: This portal strictly closes on the deadline. There won’t be any extensions in this case.
- Taking JAMB CAPS for Granted: Failure to upload your O-Level result to the JAMB CAPS portal. If ABU admits you, JAMB will not give you admission letters.
Expert Admission Tips
- Practice with ABU Past Questions: ABU is also renowned for recycling its questions or having a characteristic way of asking its questions.
- Arrive Early: Zaria might be busy during the screening periods. It is advised to arrive at the university a day before the exam date in order to find the venue (Gubi or Samaru campus).
- Check your JAMB CAPS every day: As soon as the screening exercise is completed, the admission status will be displayed on your JAMB CAPS before the ABU Portal.
